Marc Amirault, President and Chief Investment Officer
Marc founded Crystalline Management in 1998, after 14 years at the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ), the largest institutional investor in Canada with then over CAD$ 120 Billion in assets, where he occupied increasingly senior investment management positions covering more than half of the Canadian equity market sectors. In 1994, Marc initiated the creation of the first Convertibles and M&A arbitrage portfolio within CDPQ which he managed until he left to found the firm. Crystalline Management Inc started its operations on July 1st 1998 with the inception of the Amethyst Arbitrage Fund, for which he is Principal Manager. He was awarded a Masters degree in finance in 1984 from Laval University (Québec City) and earned the CFA Charter in 1986. Marc has in-depth knowledge and experience of arbitrage fund intricacies and mechanisms, as well as opportunities and risks associated with Canadian markets.

Jean-Pierre Langevin, Vice President Operations, Portfolio Manager
Jean-Pierre joined Crystalline Management Inc. as a Partner shortly after the firm’s creation in 1998. From 1991 to 1997, he worked as a financial analyst and portfolio manager for two Montreal-based investment advisory firms. He completed the cursus in M.Sc. Finance at the Hautes Études Commerciales (Montréal) in 1990 after a BAA in Finance/Marketing at that same university. Jean-Pierre developed an expertise applying mathematics to financial markets, fuelled by his engineering studies at the University of Montreal from 1982 to 1985. He brings to the firm a non linear approach to financial markets as well as his marketing, computing and general management skills. Earlier in his career, he was director and treasurer of Vauquelin Mines Ltd., a Canadian public mining exploration company.

Bradley P. Semmelhaack, Portfolio Manager
Bradley has been with the Firm since June 2004 and a partner since 2006. Prior to joining Crystalline, he worked for three investment dealer firms from 1994, where he specialized during the last few years on serving the needs of the hedge fund arbitrage industry in Canada. Bradley graduated from McGill University in Commerce in 1992, and earned both the CFA Charter and Fellow from the Canadian Securities Institute in 1998. His knowledge and experience of the sell-side of the business, combined with his strong analytical skills bring breadth to the Firm’s niche investment platform. Bradley acts as co-Portfolio Manager of the Amethyst Arbitrage Fund.

Claude Perron, Chairman
Until October 1998, Claude was Senior Vice President, investment banking at Midland Walwyn, which has since merged with Merrill Canada. From 1995 to August 1997, he co-headed institutional sales at Marleau Lemire Securities which was later acquired by Dundee Securities. Prior to 1995, Claude held senior positions in several large Canadian organizations, including, President of CN Express; Vice President planning and development, Dominion Textiles; Vice-Dean, Business and Economic faculty, Université du Québec à Montréal. He is well known to the financial community in Quebec (in particular portfolio managers) and actively participates as a partner in the corporate development and strategic initiatives of Crystalline.
